What time is it? Time to learn about personal responsibility, respect for others, and the evils of drugs. Lovuro is an alien from the planet Peacuro, where there is no crime, drugs, or other social problems. We follow her journey to the streets of Washington, D.C., where she is sent to learn about the problems that affect Earth's communities. There she meets other puppet and human characters, such as Laquifah, who needs a friend, or Delfonzo, who is at-risk and dabbling in the dangerous world of drug dealing. The video conveys a strong anti-drug and pro self-esteem message to kids, and suggests to adults that their influence and commitment can make a difference. With such an important message, it is a shame that the production values are so substandard. Lacking coherency due to a gratuitous dance sequence, poorly matched music, a patchy storyline, and forced acting, the video image is also grainy and the effects are way overused. According to the accompanying material, PuppeTainment does mostly live performances, and it seems that this would be a much more effective and natural setting for their talents. Not recommended. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
