It isn't your imagination: the squalling of an infant is supposed to be more grating than fingernails on a chalkboard--we're hard-wired to respond. Of course, that's little comfort to physically and emotionally exhausted parents. When Your Baby Cries: A Survival Guide for Parents discusses the many reasons why babies cry, including the three major triggers--hunger, pain, and boredom--while also illustrating methods for soothing babies. Although not a bad program by any means, it comes hard on the heels of the similarly-themed, less expensive, and highly recommended The Happiest Baby on the Block (VL-11/02), so consider this a strong optional purchase as a second choice for larger parenting collections. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
