Have you ever had one of those days where absolutely nothing goes right? Don't you feel like a complete loser? In this video, Lara, a likeable kid, does. She misses a basketball shot, gets called names, is laughed at, and is pressured into spending all her allowance (each situation is a small crisis on its own!). Luckily, her "alter ego," a sort of big sister figure, helps her go back through the day and learn important lessons about her own, and others', self-esteem. Lots of practical concepts are explored: the difference between mistakes vs. failure, the importance of self-respect and forgiveness, the dangers of unrealistic expectations, etc. Realistic situations, good acting, and an accompanying teacher's guide which serves as a springboard for activities and discussion, make this a fine resource for peer counseling programs, or general classroom instruction. Recommended. Aud: E, I. (E. Gieschen)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
