Oh no...53 minutes of some yokel in suspenders and a funny hat talking about the outdoors and licking his chops like he just came from the Deliverance set. That's what I was expecting, what with the ‘Wilderness Bob' shtick and all, but what I received was a humdinger of a video that deserves a place in any library serving a clientele whose idea of ‘outdoor adventure' extends beyond the playground area at McDonald's. Bob Detmer (alias ‘Wilderness Bob') is a former Army medic who knows his stuff and (even better!) knows how convey it to others. His information is not new, but it's presented in such a fresh, colorful, and entertaining manner that even seasoned nature lovers will sit up and take notice. From compass reading to first aid, from finding food to staying calm, Wilderness Bob offers cogent and nicely demonstrated advice suitable for all ages and levels of experience. If anyone can stir me from my lethargy, it's Wilderness Bob; I'd go hiking with him in a heartbeat! Recommended. Aud: H, C, P. (J. Carlson)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
