This is the second title in DME's "Window Principle" series which instructs viewers in creating and hanging custom drapes. The instructor, Marcia J. Wila, here demonstrates how to make two custom balloon shade treatments (one a gathered shade, for an outside mount; the other a pleated balloon shade, for an inside mount). For each treatment, Wila takes viewers through all of the necessary steps, from measuring the window to the final hanging. Throughout, the program features good tips for seemingly daunting tasks (such as creating a customized rod). In addition to the main projects, the tape includes instructions for making a gathered balloon valance for an additional attractive touch to the custom drape treatment. A card included with the tape lists supplies which are needed for each of the projects, as well as the formulas which viewers will be using to figure yardage requirements and hem and pouf allowances. Recommended. (Available from: DME Productions Inc., P.O. Box 1624, Dept. VL, Manchester, NH 03105.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
