Host/instructor Cherie Lynn's multicultural projects in World Art 2 (see review of World Art in VL-9/04), tailored for ages 10-up, combine excellent arts and crafts instruction with an appreciation of the importance of hands-on artistry from cultures around the world. Featuring 11 projects, including an African face mask, Chinese dragon, Navajo Indian blanket, Oaxacan foil animal, Papunya dot painting (Australia), and Tibetan sand mandala, the program offers step-by-step tutorials for each project, as well as printable patterns, materials lists, and instructions. Throughout, budding artists are encouraged to choose favorite color combinations and bring their own sense of personal expression to creating each project, while pop-up animation offers a greater understanding of the countries and cultures that spawned these beautiful works. Highly recommended. Aud: I, J, P. (M. E. Snodgrass)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
