Hosted by Dave Scott, the supervising choreographer for the 2004 feature film You Got Served, this dance instructional tie-in provides step-by-step sequences from the urban drama boogie battle starring now-defunct R&B quartet B2K and Marques Houston of IMX (a.k.a. ‘90s R&B trio Immature). Pictures of Houston and younger half-bro Omari Grandberry of B2K (the most prominent group member) misleadingly adorn the box art (the most screen time these fellas have is in a brief freestyle segment in the special features where the two plug their solo CDs). Performed on a gym-style-set with a live DJ spinning tunes and featuring a group of dancers and secondary YGS costars Robert James Hoffman III and Christopher Jones, the actual dance moves found here are pretty cool. Following a jiggy little warm-up, Scott demonstrates two dance sequences from the movie and a “hot” new routine, breaking the moves down into sections, using counts and semi-slow repetition (but not quite slow enough; I couldn't even get the warm-up right!). Also featuring a brief section on B-boys and krumping with choreographer Shane Sparks, this blatant attempt to cash-in on YGS's box office success is optional, at best. Aud: P. (J. Williams-Wood)
