Subtitled "From Trailer to Trail," the three-volume You & Your Wild Horse takes viewers through host and instructor Monty Roberts' (a noted author and real life horse whisperer) step-by-step gentle method of training wild horses. Drawing upon a lifetime of experience, Roberts demonstrates his painless approach (for the horse as well as the trainer) on "Cherokee," an adopted Bureau of Land Management mustang. Volume one begins with the horse coming off the trailer and acclimating to both humans and an open training pen. In volume two, Roberts introduces the horse to the bridle and saddle, while the third volume concludes with the horse going on his first mounted trail ride. Also featuring tips on how to create a safe and secure training environment for the horse, this comprehensive training program also features an onscreen clock so that viewers can track just how much time is spent on various activities. A fine addition to equine collections, this in-depth instructional series is recommended, even for those who already own Monty Roberts: A Real Horse Whisperer (VL-5/98), which is more of a biographical profile, or--due to the high name recognition--other comprehensive series' such as David and Karen O'Connor on Basic Horsemanship (VL-11/02).
