When this video slid across my desk, I read the title and thought, "Geez, I don't want to see this, get Mikey to do it." Then it dawned on me that Mikey probably saw something like this years ago, but Mikey is probably going through a mid-life crisis right now and can't spare the time. So I fed my VCR and discovered a superb step-by-step guide for parents who want to help their children succeed in commercials. This well organized program includes segments on training and acting classes, how to find an agent, creating a portfolio, auditions, money, safety issues, and the do's and don'ts parents should adhere to in order to keep a healthy, positive relationship with their child. (Are Macauley Culkin's parents reading this?) Host Sylvia Christie is amiable, the pace is brisk, and the interviews with experts in the field are informative. An excellent and thorough how-to. Highly recommended. (N. Plympton)

As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
