Separated into 12 segments, this video guide to the inside of your mouth is the first in a projected series of tapes on dental health. Created by professional dentists and orthodontists, the concept behind the program is to help explain some of the mysteries of dentistry to the average person. Topics covered include: X-rays, brushing and flossing, fluoride treatments, orthodontics, dentistry for children, emergency care, specialties within the field of dentistry (endodontists, periodontists, oral surgeons, etc.), prenatal care, snacking and nutrition, dental labs, and geriatric care. The video combines narration by dental professionals with illustrations and photographs to visually explain the concepts and conditions discussed on the video. Viewers will indeed learn the proper ways to brush and floss, as well as what foods are kind on teeth and what foods aren't, but they'll also learn about some of the latest trends and movements in dentistry. One dentist says that in the near future, dentists may be able to use a laser beam for zapping cavities (in which case, he says, future dentists may be called "Nintendologists.") A solid introduction to the subject, Your Family's Dental Health is recommended. (Available from: VideoTone Productions, P.O. Box 832, Coraopolis, PA 15108; 1-800-423-9666.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
