A well-intentioned anti-abduction video designed for kids to watch together with their parents or another adult, Not Me!!! avoids cheap scare tactics, menacing music, or unnecessary theatrics. Instead, viewers are presented with a solid practical guide for keeping kids safe based on being aware, trusting instincts, recognizing danger, and communicating effectively, as three dramatized vignettes are used to illustrate common scenarios in which a child might face a potential threat. First, a man claiming to know a boy's parents tries to pick him up from soccer practice. Next, a girl online is asked by a chat buddy to secretly meet. Finally, a girl is separated from her family in a grocery store and accosted by an insistent woman who wants to “take her to her mother.” Each scene is analyzed and practical solutions are offered, while various adult experts—such as a retired FBI officer—comment on each situation, providing good tips for parents (have a family password, always carry a recent photo of your child, etc.). A sensible and very affordable child safety program, Not Me!!! is recommended. Aud: E, I, P. (E. Gieschen)
