Woodworking expert Jim Stacey is the host for this 90-minute program culled from three episodes of his television series 21st Century Wood Doctor. After introducing viewers to the various types of veneer, the problems that can crop up with veneer, and the tools that will be needed to correct those problems, Stacey guides viewers through the process of repairing bubbles, replacing missing pieces, and tightening down loose veneer. As an instructor, Stacey is very good, and provides many knowledgeable tips and techniques. The drawback, however, is the fact that these programs were originally TV shows, more or less shot in real time. During each episode, Stacey makes references to calling the "station" or mentions upcoming shows; too, the credits roll at the end of each of the three programs on the tape, and the viewer must fast forward to get to the next program. So, although the instruction is very good, the format is not the best use of the video medium. Not a necessary purchase. (See INTRODUCTION TO DEVELOPING CAPABLE PEOPLE for availability.)
