A role-playing/mobile video game inspired this series that will remind viewers of the game of quidditch from the Harry Potter universe. In the future, the discovery of anti-gravity particles has changed human society in manifold ways, but for the school-age characters here, the big deal is the development of "Flying Circus," featuring one-on-one airborne athletic martial-arts-meets-track-and-field competition utilizing lighter-than-air powered footwear that allows anyone to soar into the heavens. Heroine Asuka Kurashina is a transfer student at a school where Flying Circus is a major preoccupation (nobody seems to have any studies or homework) and the adult teachers are retired FC champions or coaches. Can Asuka and her immodestly-dressed cohorts master the necessary techniques to win the finals? Aokana is a very familiar sports anime title featuring the usual messages about teamwork, friendship, and determination. Compiling all 12 episodes from 2016 in a dual-language Blu-ray edition, rated TV-14, this is an optional purchase. (C. Cassady)
