Best of Snoop Dogg's Father Hood

This single-disc collection offers an eight-episode taste of the 2007-08 seasons of E! Entertainment's Father Hood, a family-oriented reality series like The Osbournes (just replace metal with hip-hop), starring Snoop Dogg, born Cordozar Calvin Broadus. Snoop and his wife, Shante (“The Boss Lady”), live with their three children, eight-year-old Cori, 10-year-old Cordell, and 13-year-old Corde, somewhere in suburban Southern California. “Honorary son” Anthony, the offspring of Snoop's hairdresser, also shares their home, while a refrigerator-size security guard and driver, Keys, serves as occasional sidekick, accompanying Snoop to venues such as doctor's appointments and radio interviews. Just as Ozzy Osbourne's show revealed the former wild man to be a middle-aged father befuddled by everyday life, Father Hood presents Snoop in similar fashion: he's afraid of needles, his seven dogs are out of control, and the house is a mess (especially when one of the dogs has puppies). Although Snoop has an unforced charm and colorful way with words, the show feels more scripted than not—even if he insists otherwise in the third episode (“The Dogg Whisperer”)—and some of the outsiders, such as the yoga instructor from the pilot (“Downward Dogg”), are so glamorous, one can't help but assume they're models or actors on the side. Guest stars include former Gap Band vocalist Charlie Wilson, who hosts Snoop and Shante's vow renewal; David Beckham, who gives the kids a soccer lesson; and Joe Montana, who helps out at Corde's football camp.
