Actual quote from this aptly titled video: "Type ‘A' personalities are statistically more likely to spontaneously combust." Hosted by Jay Robinson, this episode from one of the Discovery Channel's highest rated series serves up five strange (and sometimes disturbing) stories involving ghosts, aliens, human flesh sculptures, UFOs, and -- you guessed it: spontaneous human combustion. Surely, this video was meant to be funny, right? Well -- the interviewed "experts" seem to take themselves very seriously, as they reflect -- without even cracking a smile -- on such bizarre subjects as the many devious ways that aliens have implanted devices in the feet of unsuspecting earthlings. Viewers will feel as if they're watching a tabloid newspaper unfold on their television screens. But, of course, there's a difference between glancing through outrageous tabloids on the check-out line at the grocery store and actually investing money to own them. Six other episodes are also available, featuring stories about Pentecostal serpent handlers, rocks that move, weird food, and the Phuket (no I don't know the pronunciation on that) Vegetarian Festival, among others. Sure to be popular, but definitely optional. (J. Glatzer)
