Following in the footsteps of such questionable funny-bone franchises as Van Wilder and American Pie is this raunchy Spike TV series, centering on the debauched adventures of the title institution's student body, who exhibit the usual interest in endless parties and an obsession with sports (mostly football). The main narrative centers on the Blue Mountain State Goats, including second-string quarterback Alex Moran (Darin Brooks), his roommate and team mascot Sammy Cacciatore (Chris Romano), senior linebacker/team captain Thad Castle (Alan Ritchson), and freshman sensation Craig Shilo (Sam Jones III). Along with Coach Marty Daniels (Ed Marinaro) and various other players and comely coeds, this lewd and crude farce from creators Romano and Eric Falconer is spotty at best, as it touches on subjects such as hazing, STDs, drug testing, and sex with the elderly. As an Animal House wannabe, this lightweight spoof offers little more than obvious jokes and unsuccessful attempts at satire. Compiling all 13 episodes of the 2010 first season, DVD extras include a “Locker Room Rewind” feature (with picture-in-picture discussions of specific scenes by the cast and crew), and deleted scenes and bloopers. Not recommended. (B. Gibron)
