You almost have to feel sorry for the hapless grooms in this horrendously retrograde reality series about the idiots that women can turn into when planning their weddings. But the men are rather far down the list of things to be disturbed and/or nauseated by here—after all, they chose to throw their lots in with these shallow, materialistic harpies, most of whom seem far more interested in getting married than being married. If the thought of people spending a quarter of a million dollars on a party isn't enough to turn your stomach here, there's the sickly syrupiness of one 43-year-old woman who—as we are reminded in every single one of the eight 2004 episodes collected here—has been planning her wedding since she was seven. We don't even glimpse her groom until several episodes in, but then again he's a mere pawn in his intended's vast, mad scheme to be princess for a day. Yes, more than one of these women uses the dread word "princess" (even high-powered stockbrokers!) and you'll want to smack every damn one of them for throwing the concept of feminism back about half a century. DVD extras include an advertisement for the third season of Bridezillas and footage from the terrifying "Real Brides Cake Dive Event." Optional. [Note: Bridezillas: The Complete 2nd Season is also newly available.] (M. Johanson)
