Dr. Timothy George, Dean of Beeson Divinity School (an interdenominational, evangelical entity within the Baptist Samford University), hosts this thought-provoking comparative study of Christianity and Islam aimed at Christians looking to make an effective bridge between their faith and the Muslim world. Divided into four episodes--“The Tenets of Islam,” “The Trinity,” “The Bible and the Incarnation,” and “The Cross and Salvation”--the emphasis here is placed on Christian theology, although an amazing number of commonalities emerge, reinforced with commentary from four Islamic scholars (two men and two women), and the series concludes with suggestions for sharing and a beautiful prayer by a Muslim who is seeking God. Dr. George is a convincing speaker who has obviously taken his own advice to listen, respect, and to love, and this is a beautifully produced series, attractively packaged and bundled with an especially well-done 32-page study guide. Given the program's aim of Christian outreach, this is not strictly a scholarly overview of the relationship between Islam and Christianity, but it should be an excellent discussion starter amongst Christian audiences. Highly recommended. Aud: C, P. (J. Reed)
