In this 13-episode compilation from the first season of the 2007–08 series, an alien asteroid called Thanatos has destroyed the ex-planet Pluto and is on a collision course with Earth. Meanwhile, young Jin is living an outcast's existence because he is the sole survivor of a spacecraft accident blamed on his father, the ship's pilot; but that scapegoating is actually a cover-up to hide the existence of a Thanatos spaceship that collided with the doomed craft. One day Jin is nearly killed by a rogue dragon created by the International Solar System Development Agency (ISDA), but he is saved by Toa, an absurdly buxom lass who is actually a Thanatos dragon disguised as a human. A triangle of sorts arises when Gio, one of ISDA's dragons, is attracted to Toa. On the periphery of this is a glut of government conspiracies, travel to and from the moon, endless physical combat, and the greatest collection of big-breasted women this side of a Russ Meyer movie. Viewers will either laugh hysterically at Dragonaut: The Resonance's utter inanity, or be stupefied by its chaotic, incoherent nature. Although definitely uneven, the series is certainly not boring. Presented in a dual-language two-disc set, suitable for 14-up, DVD extras include audio commentary. An optional purchase. [Note: Dragonaut: The Resonance, Part 02 is also newly available.] Aud: P.
