Cult comedy figure Chris Elliott plays a spoof version of the titular character from Walker, Texas Ranger in this tough-guy live-action parody series from Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block. Elliott is Texas Ranger Chris Monsanto, who always gets his man—and often a lot of bystanders along the way. Maria Thayer is Susie Wagner, the brains of the outfit; Brett Gelmen is Brett Mobley, the not-so-smart sidekick; and Michael Gladis is the unflappable Chief. Elliot didn't create or write the show as he did with his ‘90s series Get a Life, but his anything-goes approach and his affection for gallows-humor-turned-wild-farce has clearly inspired this production. Fans of Elliott and the surreal, silly Adult Swim sensibility will appreciate Eagleheart, although it will likely be far off the radar for everyone else. Compiling all 12 episodes of the 2011 debut season, extras include episode commentaries, deleted scenes, outtakes, a New York Comic-Con panel, and clips from the unaired pilot featuring Conan O'Brien. A strong optional purchase. (S. Axmaker)
