Kenny vs. Spenny is easily one of the most offensive and unfunny programs ever to appear on Comedy Central (or anywhere else), featuring gratuitously depraved material performed by stars Kenny Hotz and Spencer Rice, who are not particularly convincing as lifelong best friends determined to undermine each other's dignity and emotional health. Kenny and Spenny spend each of these 10 episodes from the 2007-08 fourth season in some type of competition (typical contest: “Who Can Blow the Biggest Fart?”), while a camera crew remains glued to every disturbing detail, many of which revolve around an infantile fixation on bodily functions or homophobia. The whole thing is beyond tedious, a real disappointment from executive producers Matt Stone and Trey Parker, creators of South Park, the long-running animated series that might also get down and dirty but nevertheless maintains a genuine sense of wit. Watching the Canadian comedy Kenny vs. Spenny, it's hard to believe that Hotz and Rice are truly bickering pariahs, since very little of their monstrous behavior rings true. DVD extras include a bonus competition, audio commentaries, and deleted scenes. Not recommended. (T. Keogh)
