Bearing the tagline “Being bad never looked so good,” Rad Girls features three Los Angeles women who do strange and disgusting things for the purposes of entertainment (and titillation). Filmed cable-access style for MavTV, this 2007-2008 series proves that the “fairer sex” can be just as brave and idiotic as the men of MTV's Jackass. Each episode begins with the following disclaimer: “What you are about to see are stunts performed by professional Rad Girls, under professional supervision. Please do not attempt to recreate on your own.” In the pilot, Darling Clementine (Audra Clemons), Munchie (Lindsay Morrison), and co-creator Ramona Cash scrape the gum off the bottom of a restaurant table and chew it. In later episodes they ride bulls, zap each other with tasers, drink their own urine, eat bugs off a tour bus, and fight with raw vegetables (leeks, radishes, cucumbers, etc.). Various crew and family members occasionally enter the fray, including Clementine's parents, Rad pal Jenny Jenn Pants, and co-creator/producer Jason “J-Mar” Martinez, who lets the ladies poke him with a cattle prod. The best bits (including one in which the trio surfs and skateboards while wearing burqas) incorporate innocent bystanders, but they're not enough to offset the gross gags, such as Munchie eating blended meals beer-bong style. Rad to the Bone compiles eight episodes full of yelling, swearing, burping, throwing up, and PG-13-rated nudity, with DVD extras including five risqué scenes deemed “unfit” for broadcast, as well as bios, and a slideshow. Not recommended. (K. Fennessy)
