We watched the first set-up episode, in which British patriot Henry Root (George Cole) plans to tour the continent to see what makes those crazy Europeans tick and decides to film his memoirs. Each episode purportedly finds Root and his doting quiet wife, (who is his camera-person, as well as his sounding board) in another country complaining about (and being rude to) the locals. Although there are some funny lines and Monty Python-ish humor in the episode we watched, Root ultimately seems far more boorish and mean spirited than cute curmudgeon-ish. An optional purchase. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
