In this opening volume of Sister Princess, a teenaged boy named Wataru is shanghaied to a mysterious, remote island, where thirteen obsequious girls who claim to be his sisters dote on him night and day. The four half-hour episodes collected here find Wataru exploring his new home--did I mention it's called "Promised Island"?--and lamenting his inability to escape the slave army of female caricatures (from the Naughty Schoolgirl to the Spunky Tomboy to the Submissive Geisha) waiting on him hand and foot. This is kind of like the Patrick McGoohan vehicle The Prisoner, only far more icky and incomprehensible, except as a bizarre adolescent male sexual fantasy. Rated 13-up, this dual-language disc also features cast interviews and character bios. Not recommended. [Note: Sister Princess, Vol. 2 is also available, with Vol. 3 slated for release on Feb. 8.] Aud: P. (M. Johanson)
