Red Dwarf fans should savor the humor in this Cartoon Network-aired spoof space adventure anime that sometimes lapses into utter madcap surrealism. Dandy is a pompadoured dude who can shape-shift into a mecha (with a Hawaiian shirt), and he has an AI vacuum cleaner for a second mate. Dandy tries to make a living in the riotous future by discovering and capturing previously unclassified alien species. And he regularly visits a sexy food franchise called Boobies, which signals the maturity level of the show's recurring jokes. Without any kind of overarching continuity, characters often die (Dandy vaporizes the entire ensemble with a doomsday bomb in the first episode alone) and then come back for the next chapter as though nothing happened. Presenting all 13 episodes from the 2014 first season in a dual-language Blu-ray/DVD Combo set, rated TV-14, extras include episode commentaries, and a featurette with American English-dub cast members. Serving up humorous action and saucy content (that is mostly all talk and cleavage), this is recommended. (C. Cassady)
