A few months ago in these very pages I gave The Pallisers Set #1 (VL-12/00) a glowing review, qualified only by my annoyance that the second set had yet to be released. Now that it has arrived I'm already crowing for the third. This time 'round Anthony Trollope's mid-Victorian chronicle of three generations of British aristocrats centers on the ambitious and well-intentioned Irish MP Phineas Finn--and the equally ambitious (but highly unscrupulous) young widow Lizzie Eustace. As with the first set, I've seen better masterings, even from a video source, but it's hands-down the best miniseries to hit DVD yet. Highly recommended, but make sure you collect the first set as well. (S. C. Sickles)

As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
