A Canadian computer-animated series seen on Nickelodeon in the U.S., Top Wing follows four young birds who enter Top Wing Academy to earn their "wings," i.e., the skills necessary to pull off rescue missions. Under the mentorship of the academy’s leaders, the quartet of little heroes (Swift, Brody, Penny, and Rod) master vehicles for sky, sea, land, and air, and learn valuable life lessons while doing good deeds. The series’ first episode and six others are compiled here, including "Race Through Danger Canyon," in which an arrogant little bat flying a jet ignores cautions not to zip through Danger Canyon and needs to be saved, and "Treasure Map Mission," in which Penny encounters pirates and must help the rest of her team. Top Wing doesn’t look particularly distinct from similar animated programs about young teams, but kids will likely enjoy. Recommended. Aud: P. (T. Keogh)
