Against the backdrop of a devastating new drug scourge overtaking the Far East, a lethal vigilante squad called Black Label—mainly composed of huge-breasted Amazons (and a token teen boy)—stay busy killing the city's most degenerate crime kingpins, comparing the narco-baddies to a cancer that must be destroyed. The analogy hits close to home, as the Black Label members are actually all former medical patients who were once pronounced clinically dead but resurrected by super-science. Now, organized by a wheelchair-bound doctor (a la X-Men's Professor X), they work out of Mochizuki General Hospital in the guise of healthcare staff. But a dogged police detective starts to interfere with the team, which strives to observe a rigid code about sparing non-offenders. Arguments about justice vs. vengeance and the nature of identity crop up, but fail to stick. Violence, sadism, mammoth mammaries, and naked communal-bathing by hyper-sexualized heroines are the show's defining symptoms, making Triage X a doubtful prescription for anime entertainment. Compiling all 10 episodes from 2015 in separate DVD and Blu-ray editions, rated TV-MA, and presented in Japanese with English subtitles, extras include an interview with voice actors. Not recommended. (C. Cassady)
