The sixth season of the outrageous adventures of TV's most recklessly irresponsible, weed-selling, sexy single mom begins with Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker) dragging her two teenage sons and newborn infant on a road trip to outrun: a murder rap, an FBI search, a Mexican hit squad, and charming but deadly Tijuana drug kingpin Esteban Reyes (Demián Bichir), who happens to be the father of her baby. As the family careens up the coast and into the mountain states, dabbling in jobs they haven't the resolve or perseverance to hold on to, Weeds veers out of control, overindulging in Nancy's increasingly poor decisions, the outlandish antics of her sons, and the impulsive actions of her erratic brother-in-law, Andy (Justin Kirk). Kevin Nealon is back as the perpetually baked tag-along, Doug; Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Alanis Morissette make brief appearances; and Richard Dreyfuss co-stars in this run's final episodes as a former teacher who shares a sordid history with Nancy. Once a somewhat clever social satire, this Showtime original has steadily devolved into a scattershot paean to reckless parenting and copious drug use. Compiling all 13 episodes from 2010 on DVD and Blu-ray, extras include episode audio commentaries, featurettes (including a Q&A with creator Jenji Kohan and executive producers Roberto Benabib and Matthew Salsberg answering fan questions), and a gag reel. Optional. (S. Axmaker)
