Kanopy is launching two new acquisition models that will enable academic libraries to strategically acquire films on any budget. The first is the new Smart PDA, which is a highly customized program that uses individual library's usage statistics and curricula trends to match video content to student and faculty requirements. This new model is unique in that it will ensure the lowest cost-per-use for libraries and provide the most relevant content to their patrons. Kanopy is also introducing a Capped PDA, a new perpetual access model, providing libraries with the option of purchasing a rapidly growing selection of more than 4,000 titles that are owned in perpetuity. Furthermore, Kanopy has revised its pricing structure for greater value, reducing the cost of more than 70% of its titles based on their length, popularity, subjects, and other key factors.
“Kanopy’s Smart PDA is a game-changer,” said Anne Cerstvik Nolan, MLS, Collection Strategist - Licensing and Assessment at Brown University Library. “Kanopy's team understands our specific usage across the curriculum and is working with us to develop a strategic PDA program that anticipates usage trends both short and long-term. We can also now rest assured that we will never go over budget with the ability to set a cap on triggered titles.”
Along with the acquisition models, Kanopy is also announcing the acquisition of over 600 new titles from leading suppliers including Criterion, Media Education Foundation (MEF), and New Day Films, with an additional 2,000 signed in the last three months.
