HISTORY
Pyramid Films Corp was founded in 1960 by Dave and Lynn Adams. The company began with a single film—a pulmonary rescuscitation film - That They May Live.”
This was followed by the multi-award winning film, “Pulse of Life” that was the first training film dedicated to the instruction of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for the lay public. It was also the first of many celebrated films, including "Breath of Life”and” CPR for Citizens”, that were used for over twenty-five years by the American Heart Association, the Red Cross, hospitals throughout the world, and many other organizations whose mission was to teach CPR to laypersons as well as to trained professionals. Pyramid's current training films, "CPR for Rescuers" and "CPR for Bystanders", continue updated every few years to meet the evolving standards for CPR instruction.
The enormous success of Pyramid's CPR training films brought the company to the attention of some of the most innovative and best-known makers of short films in the world, including Saul Bass, John Whitney, Charles and Ray Eames, Warren Miller, and Ron Underwood, as well as many others who entrusted their work to Pyramid for its integrity and its dedication to opening a worldwide audience for the best in narrative, animated, and documentary short film subjects.
The Pyramid Collection includes an unprecedented number of award-winning programs, among them nearly forty films that have received Academy Award nominations or Oscars. Among these are classics such as Why Man Creates, Mona Lisa Descending a Staircase, Closed Mondays, and Up, among others.
Our CPR training films continue to set a standard for excellence against which all others are judged, and our anti-smoking, anti-drug programs for youth comprise some of the finest collections available anywhere. Pyramid remains committed to excellence in training and curriculum-based programming, and we look forward to continuing to supply institutions worldwide with the very best in short films and educational programming.
