The scene: The First Annual Kripalu Conference on Psychotherapy and Spirituality, held at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. The cast: keynote speaker Jacquelyn Small, MSSW; Yogi Amrit Desai (Gurudev), and a rapt audience of crunchy granola disciples and therapists. Both Small and Gurudev deliver a basic message that is pretty mainstream: Eastern and Western traditions have a lot to offer each other, psychological and spiritual values need to be integrated, and addiction to material gain doesn't bring happiness. But the message is embellished with talk of visitations from beings "not of this dimension" appearing in "holograms," instructions from the beyond, etc., and it's delivered in language us less-evolved creatures will have difficulty following. In short, you had to be there. Not recommended. Aud: P. (J. Reed)
