A sing-along compilation (with onscreen lyrics) of children's classic songs geared towards ages 2-5, 25 Fun Songs for Kids--Old MacDonald Had a Farm features a group of kids smiling cutely, waving crazily, and often dressed up in costumes that have absolutely nothing to do with the song being played. Tunes include well-known favorites such as the title track, "Frere Jacques," "Here We Go 'Round the Mulberry Bush," and "Pat-A-Cake," as well as lesser-known ditties such as "I Had a Little Nut Tree" and "Oranges and Lemons." Some of the songs have been modified ("ashes, ashes" in the mis-titled "Ring-A-Ring-A-Roses"[should be "O'Roses"] has been changed to "a tissue, a tissue"), and none of the kids actually sing (they just go through the assigned motions on each low-budget set, occasionally looking off-camera uncertainly). Boasting a wide selection of songs, this is nevertheless an unimaginative production--the kind where a local grade school class is shanghaied into acting out some basic steps and movements with a minimal amount of rehearsing. Very optional. Also available at the same price are 25 Fun Songs for Kids--Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, 25 Fun Songs for Kids--Row, Row, Row Your Boat and 25 Fun Songs for Kids--Humpty Dumpty, and on DVD at $14.98 each, 50 Fun Songs for Kids--Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and 50 Fun Songs for Kids--Old MacDonald Had a Farm. Optional. Aud: K, E, P. (J. Williams)
