Good grief! Charles M. Schulz's famous gang of lovable youngsters embarks on Valentine's Day escapades in this recent supplement to the popular Peanuts cartoon series that includes three stories. Main man Charlie Brown, his beloved iconic beagle Snoopy, and the rest of the crew (sweet lil' sis Sally, nickel psychiatrist Lucy, sensible Linus, piano-playing Schroeder, pushy Peppermint Patty, and her bespectacled lackey Marcy) enjoy a typically problematic holiday in A Charlie Brown Valentine, in which Charlie is obsessed (read: obsessed) with the infamous unidentified little red-haired girl--he picks up her chewed-up pencil, watches her during class and recess (from behind a trash can) at the 2nd Street School, and is crushed when Linus talks to her and discovers that she doesn't even know him! Not giving up, Charlie gets tuxed-up for the holiday dance, but disappointments abound (especially when Snoopy dances off with his girl!), leaving underdog Charlie--as per usual--back at square one. The DVD version includes two bonus episodes: “There's No Time for Love, Charlie Brown” and “Someday You'll Find Her, Charlie Brown.” Recommended.
