Do you know how a combine works? Are straw and wheat the same? How many times a year is a sheep sheared? Spend a day on the farm with big, friendly Farmer John and his dog Buddy, and you'll find the answers to these questions while having some barnyard fun! Or, at least that's the theory; in reality, the video basically offers a bunch of kids singing songs like "O When the Cows Go Marching In," coupled with a lot of farm animal montages. With mediocre production values, forced acting (the female adult could have smiled at least once instead of looking like her cowprint hat was on too tight), really cheesy dialogue and recycled songs (B-U-D-D-Y instead of B-I-N-G-O), viewers should consider more consistently interesting and educational fare, such as A Day on the Farm (VL-7/96) or Wilbur Visits the Farm (VL-9/97). Not recommended. Aud: K, P. (E. Gieschen)
