Set in the Puget Sound area of Washington, Big Boats L'il Boats has Uncle Bill in a sailor suit--well, actually, a sailor hat--guiding a trio of kids on a tour of passenger and commercial ships that abound in the area. The children are treated to behind the scenes looks at a steam engine on one of the last surviving steam-powered tour boats and a visit to a ferry boat wheel house. Close-up work is blended with well-written narrative that accompanies long shots of container ships, fire ships, sea planes, tugs, etc. One of the really impressive features of this work is the quality of the photography. The production company who put this together is professional in every respect, and since the show is announced as part of the Adventures with My Uncle Bill series, let's hope for more. Audience age cited on the box is 3-9, which seems about right. Recommended. (E. Swanson)
