Chockfull of more computer graphics, live action and animation than you can shake a banana at, this new program from the Amazing Animal series spotlights our favorite relative from the swinging side of the family tree, the monkey. Viewers will see wonderful footage of spider monkeys and bush baby monkeys, orangutans and lemurs, chimpanzees and baboons, singing gibbons and gentle gorillas, and so on. But without onscreen identification of these primates, or much organization of the facts, the colorful splash of info-nuggets offered here will prove difficult for young audiences to digest and assimilate. Used as either an adjunct for the books, or as a classroom discussion starter, these titles could be a wonderful way to spur children towards a more detailed investigation of an array of amazing animals. With that caveat in mind, these tapes are recommended. Other new titles in the series include: Endangered Animals, Birds of Prey, and Animal Colors. Aud: K, E, I, P. (N. Plympton)
