Based on the comic book character Baby Huey, this unimaginative story about the biggest baby duck's adventures in the town of Bitzville (where he's befriended by a standard-issue kid and hounded by a standard-issue villain) is not only poorly written, but also suffers from several sub-par acting performances, most notably those of Joseph Bologna and David Lander as the bad guys. The worst gaffe of the film, however, was the decision to use a guy in a giant duck costume as Baby Huey. Any kid who's reached the age of reason will think this film is stupid. Any toddler will immediately assume Baby Huey is Big Bird wearing a diaper. Since Baby Huey is clearly a fake fowl, it is really impossible to take seriously any and all interaction between the duck and the various characters in the film. The great failure here is the filmmakers ignorance or avoidance of the elemental truth that animal characters from the world of cartoons and comic books are not believable if presented outside the parameters of animation. Just imagine if Bugs and Daffy had been depicted with Michael Jordan in Space Jam by guys in Bugs and Daffy costumes. Stupid? You bet. Not recommended. (P. Van Vleck)
