While Tiny Toon Adventures, the Steven Spielberg-produced early '90s television series that introduced a new generation of Warner Brother cartoon stars, was true to the iconoclastic spirit of their animated forbears, the 2002 Baby Looney Tunes is an ill-conceived effort, populated by preschool incarnations of Bugs Bunny, Sylvester, Tweety, the Tazmanian Devil, and Daffy, who speak in annoying baby voices and have little relation to the timeless characters. This produced-for-video spin-off of the Cartoon Network series really lays an egg with a hackneyed is-there-or-isn't-there-an-Easter-Bunny story, featuring characters and animation absolutely lacking in personality. Of course you realize, as our favorite bunny would say, this means war, especially since it's a particular insult to the memory of the geniuses who unleashed Bugs, Daffy and the rest on the world. Not recommended. [Note: the DVD includes two extra shorts and a pair of music videos.] Aud: P. (K. Lee Benson)
