Based on CINAR Productions' children's series, this feature-length animated program finds four-year-old Caillou enjoying life's simple pleasures during the holiday season. A little bald boy with an inquisitive mind, Caillou is excited about upcoming Christmas festivities and loves sharing holiday preparations and outings with his parents, including taking Christmas cards to the post office, going on a sleigh ride, picking out a Christmas tree, and decorating the house, as well as dropping off toys for less fortunate kids at the local fire station, and baking cookies for the retirement home. While making presents for his folks and his mischievous lil' sister Rosie, Caillou learns about time and holiday traditions worldwide thanks to a 12-day Christmas calendar highlighting festivities in places such as Germany, Mexico, England, Turkey, Russia, and Greece. From a Christmas parade to a special role in a holiday play, Caillou has a blast waiting for Santa, and although he's a little demanding and pampered, the youngster generally exhibits good manners, including putting away his belongings and helping with chores and tasks. The DVD includes an animated interview with Caillou, two extra holiday songs, the story "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," and more. A friendly, warmhearted program with a bubbly, lovable protagonist, this is highly recommended. Aud: K, P. (J. Williams)
