Sesame Street has been a cultural institution for decades. In the newly released Cool Counting Collection, countless guest stars join the gang for a slew of musical numbers about…well, counting. The collection is well designed for parents and counters of all ages and counting abilities.
This DVD features famed character actor Liam Neeson in one of his most challenging roles: the Count himself. Instead of trying to find the men who kidnapped his daughter, Count Neeson has a much easier task: counting to twenty. No bombs will detonate if he doesn’t reach his mark. It’s low-pressure stuff, but seeing the stoic Hollywood tough guy as a beloved children’s character is amusing to all viewers.
Other guest stars include indie rocker Feist singing a variation of her hit “1234” with chickens and penguins. Elvis Costello jams out with Elmo, surely the rocker’s most sought-after duet. There is a contest to see who can wear the most hats. The gang really pulls out various stops to reinforce counting skills.
The special is designed so you don’t have to start immediately to 1-20, which can be a daunting task for younger counters. You can start out from 1-5, and then work your way up from there. There’s a lot for adults and young counters alike to enjoy here. Aud: P
