A direct-to-video animated feature based on figures from the Mega Bloks toy franchise, Dragons: Fire & Ice is set in the “time of legends” (translation: the very distant past), and involves two kingdoms that have been warring for a thousand years. This endless feud began when the Great Dragons who possessed the Krystals of Power for Peace and Wisdom mysteriously disappeared, and--naturally--each kingdom blamed the other for both the missing dragons/krystals and the wars that subsequently followed. A young prince from one kingdom and a comely princess of the other sneak off for an adventure to Dragon World (yes, Dragon World!) to find out what really happened to those Great Dragons, while a wizard named Xenoz (who could've easily been called Xerox since his presence is literally a photocopy of every sorcerer who ever waved a wand in any dragon-packed fantasy) may hold the only clue to the mystery. Kids who play with the Mega Bloks toys may be mildly amused to see their favorite figurines come to life, but for others this silly but harmless movie offers up an utterly predictable tale of distressed damsels, studly knights, stupid kings, and ancient curses--with young love and spunk saving the day. DVD extras include a "Krystal Mode" (in which viewers click on the "krytsal" for more information) and a DVD-ROM-accessible "Dragons" game. Optional. Aud: P. (P. Hall)
