Comprised of five episodes from the 1987 series Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater, this DVD compilation consists of parodies of popular films featuring adorable feline youngster Hello Kitty and other animal friends. “K.T.: The Kitty Terrestrial” (which spoofs E.T.) finds Hello Kitty starring as alien K.T., who is left behind after picnicking on Earth with her parents, and must enlist the help of animal buddies to protect her from villain cat/dog duo Catnip and Grinder (who want to capture K.T. and the spaceship she rode in on), as well as help see her back home. “The Wizard of Paws” (The Wizard of Oz) tells the tale of Hello Dorothy and her quest to return home to The Land of Catfish before an evil cat-witch--who's after Dorothy's magic collar--can turn the gang into kitty litter. The other three episodes are “Kitty and the Kong” (King Kong), “Cat Wars” (Star Wars), and “Paws--The Great White Dog Shark” (Jaws). Immediately dated by the slapstick situations, distinctly '80s score and scratch-filled image quality, this somewhat amusing program is optional at best. [Note: also newly available on DVD at the same price are Hello Kitty Saves the Day and Hello Kitty Becomes a Princess.] Aud: P. (J. Williams)
