Children's TV favorite Jay Jay the Jet Plane and his mostly motorized Tarrytown chums continue their agreeable computer-animated antics in this program that contains five adventures following the theme of friendship. Shy Snuffy gets a case of the jitters when going to pick up airport founder EZ's crotchety cousin in “Grumpy O'Malley,” but chills out once the two find common ground. Helicopter Herky gets on Tracy's last nerve by following her around excessively, but redeems himself in “The Great Tarrytown Blackout,” and Big Jake contracts a mysterious ailment soaring above Smiling Meadow at the start of spring in “Catch the Buzz.” Other episodes include “Revvin' Evan's Day,” in which Jay Jay learns an exhausting lesson by following the hardworking Evan around after thinking his job was totally easy, and “Missing You,” a segment that finds Snuffy nearly inconsolable with yearning for Big Jake to come home from a weeklong visit to his uncle. Though the songs are generally bland (well, okay, “I'm Revvin', Revvin' Evan” is pretty catchy), and the program features only a few glimpses of the titular Jay Jay, this is sure to be popular with young fans and is recommended, overall. DVD extras include four bonus sing-alongs, two brief “Think About” educational moments, and trailers. Aud: K, E, P. (J. Williams)
