One of my favorite memories as a kid is of visiting my grandfather, who owned a wonderful old Victrola and a vast collection of records, including several from the very early days of jazz. My brother and I would spend hours making up dance routines, and--just like Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland--perform for the relatives. Of course, our routines were nowhere near as sophisticated or authentic as what you'll find in Junior Jazz (and after 25 years I don't think my moves are any better!). Although designed for ages four to six, I personally had a blast learning such charming combinations as the Hippo Hop, Koala Bear Hug, Jungle Monkey Swing, and Kitty Cat Pounce. In all, four styles of jazz are covered--hip hop, musical theatre, rock, and swing, with instructor Rosemary Boross demonstrating each dance combination, followed by the entire class joining in to boogie. I think I'll give my brother a call so we can gear up for our next performance. Recommended. Two other titles are also available at the same price: Baby Ballet and Tot Tap. Aud: K, E, P. (J. Asala)
