Instead of a typical summer vacation, young Kristen decides to vacation with her aunt Tracy, a children's book illustrator. They journey to a small island off the coast of Maine, where people are encouraged to build "fairy houses"--small shelters made with natural, found materials-in the nooks and crannies of trees and rocks. Kristen is captivated, and the video follows her quest to make the perfect, just-right fairy house. In the meantime, her friendship with aunt Tracy grows, and she learns to appreciate the beauty of nature and the joy of creativity. Older children of a more contemplative nature and adults will enjoy the beautiful scenery of New England, as the camera work and editing is skillful. However, the pace is a bit slow, and with no dramatic storyline, younger viewers may not be as appreciative. An optional purchase. Aud: I, J, P. (E. Gieschen)
