This product pipeline sequel to Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas (VL-11/99) is above average fodder designed to keep the kiddies occupied during holiday gatherings. In deference to Generation Pixar, Disney has given its iconic characters a computer-animated makeover for five seasonal stories that extol the virtues of friendship and family. In the first, Minnie and Daisy's friendship is almost put on ice when they compete for the spotlight in a skating show. Next, the incorrigible Huey, Dewey, and Louie break into Santa's workshop to add their name to his "good" list but redeem themselves in a selfless act on behalf of their Uncle Scrooge (voiced by Mr. Ed's Alan Young). Goofy's slapstick antics embarrass Max in front of his girlfriend (but she recognizes his good heart) in the third segment, while an excitable, mall-stressed Donald has one of those Grinchian changes of heart in the fourth. In the final tale, even Mickey lets holiday party preparations get the worst of him after Pluto accidentally makes a shambles of his decorations. The computer animation is off-putting at first, but the heartwarming stories and age-appropriate comedy will help make the season bright (for an hour, at least). DVD extras include deleted scenes, games and activities, and a featurette on how Olympic star skater Michelle Kwan inspired the animators. An optional purchase. Aud: P. (D. Liebenson)
