Narrated by James Earl Jones, this is a lively adaptation of Peter Spier's Caldecott Medal award-winning book of the same name. The familiar biblical story of Noah, who is ordered by the Lord to build an ark, and collect two of every species to bring aboard, that they may be saved while the Lord sends down a punishing rain, is fleshed out by Spier's imaginative recreation of what living conditions on the ark must have really been like. Beautifully detailed illustrations show animals fighting, Noah and his family cleaning up animal poop, and, when the ark disembarks, a massive clutter left in the animals' (and their recent offspring-many of which are rabbits) wake. One of the "Stories to Remember" tales from producer Joshua Greene, this wonderful story is nicely done, and features memorable music from ex-Police drummer and current film composer Stewart Copeland. Highly recommended. (Available from most distributors.)
