The impressionistically-styled iconographic-animated adaptation On a Beam of Light, based on the 2013 book by author Jennifer Berne and illustrator Vladimir Radunsky, centers on world-renowned genius Albert Einstein. In his youth, Albert barely talked and just looked around with “his big curious eyes.” A gift of a compass from his father helped foster Albert's thirst for knowledge, and during adolescence and young adulthood he read much and spent a lot of time thinking about space, light beams, and other mind-boggling concepts. Not being able to find a job as a teacher, Albert's banal government work left him with plenty of extra time to write articles about theoretical physics for various science magazines, with much eventual success. Also featuring tidbits on Einstein's love of sailing, the violin, ice cream cones, and saggy, baggy sweaters, this brief overview is recommended. Aud: E, P. (J. Williams-Wood)
