In this thematic compilation drawn from the new Zoom (an updated version of the popular '70s children's program), which is produced by WGBH Boston and airs on PBS, pre-school and elementary school kids are offered ideas for children's parties. The Zoomers, as the kid stars of the series are known, demonstrate a variety of cool recipes, games and crafts. The recipes--no-bake cookies and cranberry sherbet--can be successfully concocted by children, with a little ingredient help from a parent, while games such as Backwards Spelling Bee, Pass Me By, Penny Baseball and the Cup Game could come in especially handy at a rained-out birthday party. Most parents will probably draw inspiration from something they see in this video, and there's no reason why these games and recipes have to be restricted to parties. Recommended. A companion volume, The Making of Zoom, is also available. Aud: K, E, P. (P. Van Vleck)
